Backbone Connect Give Businesses Alternative to Costly London Colocation Market

LONDON, / PR FREE / Oct 26 2011 --
Backbone Connect, one of the leading U.K. managed networks and U.K. colocation providers, announces the second phase of its Slough colocation data centre is now ready for occupancy. The second phase releases a further 250 colocation racks to help businesses lower colocation costs and move out of the crowded London colocation market.

Demand for London colocation space continues to out strip supply, naturally fuelling ongoing price increases. Backbone Connect's Slough data centre is built to provide an alternative, offering Tier-III colocation space, 30 minutes from London by train and 10 minutes from the M25.

"We're incredibly excited to bring this second phase of our Slough data centre to market," says David McLeod, director of marketing at Backbone Connect. "We've seen increasing prices within the London colocation market ever since we've been in business, and I can't foresee that situation changing anytime soon. With affordable and high-speed low latency connectivity everywhere these days, there's simply no longer any reason to stay in central London. We've found that by helping businesses move just 25 miles outside of the city, we are able to save them up to 30 percent of their London colocation costs - money that could be put to better use elsewhere in the business."

Backbone Connect operates a high-speed metro ring which connects most London colocation data centres with the Slough facility, so reaching other carriers or data centres is achievable.

"We've helped an increasing number of customers move away from London over the last few years, and our service delivery team are exceptional at effecting a smooth transition," says Mike Cullen, technical director at Backbone Connect, "but not every customer is the same. Moving a data centre out of London is not right for every situation, which is why were offering initial consultancy at no cost to anyone looking to relocate, to help them really explore all the options."

To learn more, visit '' potential customers can also request a tour of the data centre or a session of free consultancy to help evaluate the options for migration.
