NOVAD Management Consulting Sponsors Winning Grillmaster, Executive Chef Franklin Thomas, at 2nd Annual Grill, Grapes & Jazz Charity Grill-Off Benefitting Boys Town of Washington D.C.

Executive Chef Franklin Thomas (the celebrated Executive Chef from Wegman’s in Woodmore) takes first prize at the Grill, Grapes & Jazz Grill-Off Charity fundraiser hosted by the HR Source Foundation on June 22.

Grill, Grapes & Jazz supports a variety of organizations that make a significant difference in the lives of children, the homeless and other vulnerable factions. Sponsors for this event each selected a charity to benefit from the proceeds, and a participating chef. In total, 11 chefs competed for the $10,000 first prize and for the benefit of their sponsored charities. Boys Town of Washington D.C. was the benefactor of Chef Thomas’ culinary expertise. Boys Town serves nearly 370,000 at-risk children and families each year with programs and services that build healthy relationships and life-changing skills.

Boys Town Board Member, Davon Kelly, CEO of NOVAD Management Consulting, sponsored winning chef Thomas Franklin. According to Kelly, “Grill, Grapes & Jazz was a tremendously successful event that supported many worthy charities while highlighting the skills of talented chefs in our community. Boys Town will put the $10,000 to good use as we provide an integrated continuum of care to children and their families.”

Pat Hall Jaynes, founder of the HR Source Foundation, is a strong believer in giving back to the community. The second prize, $5,000 went to the Boys and Girls Club of Prince Georges County represented by Chef Henri Abrams and sponsored by Diverse Technologies Corporation. The third and fourth prizes of $2,500 and $1,000 were awarded to Street Sense and Prince Georges County Social Innovation Fund, respectively. The other sponsored charities, A Wider Circle, Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund, Capital Area Food Bank, Early Childhood Academy, The Fishing School, The House DC and Top Banana received $500.00 each.
